Who we are

ClearClauses (“ClearClauses”, “we”, “us”) is an AI contract-clause analysis service operated by Alko Intelligence. This policy explains what personal data we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices and rights you have. It is written in plain English and is informed by frameworks such as the GDPR and the CCPA.

What we collect

We collect only what we need to run the service:

• Account details — your email address and a hashed (never plain-text) password.
• Content you submit — the contract text or PDF you provide for analysis, along with the analysis we generate from it.
• Collected emails — emails captured at signup and via the waitlist, together with whether you consented to marketing.
• Payment & billing data — if you buy a review or subscribe, our payment processor (Stripe) handles your card details; we keep only a customer/subscription reference and a record of your credit purchases. We never receive or store your full card number.
• Basic usage data — limited usage and IP information used for rate limiting and to protect the service from abuse.
• Cookies — a session cookie and an anonymous free-review cookie (see “Cookies” below).

How we use it

We use your data to provide and improve the clause analysis, to authenticate you and keep your account secure, and to send transactional email such as account verification. We send product updates and marketing email only with your consent, and you can opt out at any time.

Third-party processors

We rely on a small number of trusted processors to operate the service:

• Anthropic (Claude) — processes the contract text you submit in order to generate the analysis.
• Stripe — processes payments for paid reviews and subscriptions, and stores your card details on our behalf (we do not).
• Resend — delivers our transactional and (where you have consented) marketing emails.

Retention & your rights

You can delete your data at any time from the in-app Account page, which anonymizes your account, removes your saved analyses, and cancels any active subscription so you are not billed again. We retain de-identified billing records where required for accounting and tax. Marketing emails include an unsubscribe / opt-out link in every message. Depending on where you live, you may also have rights to access, correct, port, or object to the processing of your personal data — contact us using the details below to exercise them.

Cookies

We use a session cookie to keep you signed in, and an anonymous free-review counter cookie to track how many free reviews have been used before signup. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.
